At last having some time to myself i started looking at old ideas, here’s a few that could do with some further experimentation:
- Content Planet A spinning globe of content where each item can be clicked to open a video stream.
- Video Wall An interactive 3D wall that responds to mouse movement. Clicking on an item launches a video stream which is mapped to the uv coordinates of the elements in the wall.
- PaperVision Stats 3D Statistics with the ability to drill down/up the data hierarchy to facilitate year/month/day/hour views.
This weekend i launched a new beta application SoundCloud Stimuli
At the moment nothing more than an AS3 mp3 browser and visualizer.
If you’re stuck for a SoundCloud username you can try any of these:
- mr-angular (minimal/tech)
- r_co (house/progressive/garage)
- therisky (drum and bass/podcast)
Please check it out, embed it in your Facebook profile and if possible let me know what you think of the features so far.
Here’s a rough demo of my latest flash video player:
The MyLiveSession Demo
Currently using old video files and images from the good old MLS days…better assets make it look a lot nicer!
In this setup i’m streaming .flv via rtmp from Flash Media Server; When i get time i’ll add some demos showing custom (psuedo stream) and progressive .flv plus a demo of the windows media overlay to handle .mpg, .mp4 and .wmv files via http all within the same UI.
I’d love to know how the preview function works for you – you can activate it by hovering your mouse over the prev/next buttons, just wait 5 seconds and the image shown will change to a video of the next stream, audio will switch as well (NOTE: some of the videos currently avaialble dont have audio for a few seconds once they start – so it’s not so obvious). When both stream are playing what is the performance on your computer like, acceptable??
Feedback and suggestions appreciated, cheers.
I’m working on a reporting application using PaperVision2 and have just noticed a memory leak which is either my fault or that of PV.
Have a look here:
PaperVision 2 Charting Demo
If i navigate the scene using the z,x,c,v,b and arrow keys the memory usage continuously increases until i drill down into another data set (by clicking a bar within the graph). I’m using a custom destroy function to fix this here (and it works) but only when i clean out absolutely everything… is that right? All that’s happening in this context is the camera is moving then pv is re-rendering.
I found this post over at Seb Lee-Delisle’s blog so i’ve updated my PV source and revised my code but it doesn’t make any difference.
Anyone got any suggestions please?
UPDATE: I managed to fix this so there is no longer a memory leak!
Just another visualization experiment AS3 MP3.
This time with PaperVision using someone else’s original idea that i tweaked and enhanced so i could figure out PV (as i’ve been kind of lazy with it)!
